Bridget in Snow
At the time this was painted, Bridget, known affectionately as BJ, was a nine-year-old ski racer living at Mount Hotham during the Winter months. This had been her life since she was a baby, so Winter and snow were in her blood. Robyn captured BJ in her element – relaxed, content and at home in the snow, enveloped in the warmth of a lush fur collar.
Bridget has always evoked a sense of pensive, melancholy beauty, and a wisdom well beyond her years. This made her the perfect subject for Robyn’s submission to the Off The Kerb Gallery exhibition celebrating the theme of the Winter season. A time of hibernation, introspection and foraging, and represented through blue and greys hues, light and shade; Nature mirroring human emotions.
Bridget was also the sitter for Robyn’s “Down the Rabbit Hole” mural for the Wall to Wall Festival in Benalla.
